Maple Leafs forward Ilya Mikheyev was held for observation at a local hospital Friday night after suffering what the team called a significant wrist laceration when he was cut by the skate of New Jersey's Jesper Bratt.

The Sabres' Jeff Skinner, who is fifth on the team in scoring with 11 goals and eight assists, was hurt while trying to check an opposing player and will miss three to four weeks with an upper-body injury.

Ilya Mikheyev will miss at least three months after suffering a severed artery and tendons in his wrist, the Maple Leafs announced Saturday.
