Cal Ripken Jr. played in 2,632 consecutive games, had 3,184 hits, hit 431 home runs and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2007. TBS had reportedly hired him to be an analyst for their MLB postseason coverage, but apparently not. They hired Carl Ripken Jr instead. TBS settled on Carl only after Tommy Gwynn, Mark Piazza and Bart Saberhagen all passed on the job. John Bagwell initially said yes, but later backed out.
