The “Tax Gap†represents the aggregate amount of tax liabilities that is not paid on time. Since the Tax Gap represents unpaid taxes any estimate is, at best, a WAG (wild-A-guess) although many believe the current annual federal net Tax Gap approximates $385 billion dollars (based on data from tax year 2006) representing a non-compliance rate of 15%-16%.Â
