Curiosity Drills A Second Hole On Mars Earlier this week, the Mars rover Curiosity used its robotic arm to drill a hole into a Martian rock and collect a sample from its interior. This marks both the second time that Curiosity has collected such a sample, and the second time any such sample has been collected from Mars, period. The hole was about 2.6 inches deep and about 0.6 inches in diameter.
