Lou Reed is recovering from a liver transplant. The 71-year-old songwriter -- who has acknowledged years of substance abuse, since kicked, from his Velvet Underground days onward -- had the surgery last month in Cleveland, his wife Laurie Anderson told the U.K. Sunday Times.
