Can I Paint My Black Granite Countertop? -- Good Questions

Q: For years I have lived with the black granite countertop in my kitchen, even though I hate the color (I prefer lighter countertops) and feel it makes my small kitchen look darker and smaller. I would finally like to do something about it, but changing the countertop is out of my budget for this renovation. Has anyone painted granite countertops? If so, can you recommend a resource in the NYC area? More
