Film festivals are going omnichannel: This week, both The New York Times and NBCUniversal's DailyCandy announced that they will be hosting events to premiere a string of films, which will also be available to view for free on their respective websites. The Times, in conjunction with Film Independent, is debuting two feature length and two short films, first in NYC on Sept. 7 at TheTimesCenter in midtown, and then in Los Angeles on Sept. 9 at the Sonos Studio.
