If you don't think Lawrence Summers is the most brilliant man in the room, reportedly he surely does. He's had an amazing career despite economic gaffe after foot in mouth gaffe. Fortunately, Summers has withdrawn his name from consideration to be Ben Bernanke's successor as the Chair of the Federal Reserve Board after Bernanke's term expires in Jan. 2014. He knew and we knew Obama didn't have the cards to play to get him confirmed. At least the Senate Banking Committee got this one right.
