Yankees' 'Core Four' is dwindling to one

L.A. Times - 21 Sep 2013 23:47
Yankees' 'Core Four' is dwindling to one With pitchers Mariano Rivera and Andy Pettitte retiring at the end of the season, only injured shortstop Derek Jeter is left from that group that broke in together in 1996. They were called the California Angels then, the visiting team on a beautiful Friday evening in New York. The Yankees had not won a postseason series in 15 years, so the attendance at Yankee Stadium was a modest 19,087 on May 17, 1996.
