Outlier Drops the Bomber Jacket of the Future When the MA-1 Bomber jacket debuted in the 1950s, it was because the fleece-lined leather B-15s of WWII created more problems for pilots who flew at higher altitudes—where perspiration would freeze. Nylon, however, was warm and breathable at the same time, so it was the perfect fabric for this new breed of flight jackets. But that was sixty years ago.
