Investors in US equities are celebrating outstanding returns from 2013. So are investors in German equities and, in particular, Japanese. By the close on December 30, those three markets were up, respectively, 29% (S&P 500), 26% and 57% in the calendar year. But the picture is very different in the big emerging markets, the supposed engine rooms of global growth.
