How Can We Stay in Our House During a Remodel and Not Lose Our Minds? -- Good Questions

Q: My husband and I are about to embark on an 8+ month remodel of half our house. We'll be living in the bedroom wing of the house with our two young daughters (ages 5 and 7) and two large dogs. Any advice as to how to survive without a kitchen or living space? We have two bathrooms -- I was thinking of converting one into a kitchen, but my husband thinks it's gross.
