This week's British Open is at Royal Liverpool, near where the Beatles got their start in 1960, so the Fab Four is a natural tie-in. ESPN is running "Birdiemania" promos, for instance, cheekily playing off the Beatlemania of yore. The network also looked into using Beatles songs during the event, but a spokesman told Golf Digest that it couldn't justify the cost to secure the rights.
