I remember this day very vividly. It was 1985 and Williams was transitioning from TV star to the movie star he would become for the rest of his career. It was a few years after Mork & Mindy, but just before he started shooting Good Morning, Vietnam. Richard Avedon took the picture. Before our cover shoots, Avedon used to send me photos of his ideas.
