Chris Walla of Death Cab For Cutie leaves band after 17 years

After 17 years as the guitar player for Death Cab For Cutie, Chris Walla has announced that he'll be leaving the band. His final show with them will be at Rifflandia Festival in Victoria, British Columbia, on 13 September. He posted a statement earlier this morning explaining his departure to The Stranger, saying "Short version: I'm leaving Death Cab for Cutie," adding "Longer version: I think I long for the unknown.
