Sugar substance 'kills' good HDL cholesterol 'Good' cholesterol is turned 'bad' by a sugar-derived substance, researchers have found. The findings may help scientists focus on developing drugs that reduce methylglyoxal, which was found to damage 'good' cholesterol, which removes excess levels of bad cholesterol from the body, they say.
