China sure to tally costs in handling Hong Kong's protests

When the lips are gone, the teeth will grow cold, as the ancient Chinese saying goes. If China and Hong Kong are like lips and teeth, their relationship can bear only a limited amount of strain before both will suffer. The protests currently underway in Hong Kong are testing that limit.
