Tasmanian writer Richard Flanagan won the $80,000 Man Booker Prize in London Tuesday night for "The Narrow Road to the Deep North." His devastating novel, inspired by the experiences of his own father, tells the story of Australian POWs forced by imperial Japan to build the Thailand-Burma Death Railway during World War II.
