The Katskhi Pillar is a limestone monolith topped with the ruins of two Byzantine churches in the Republic of Georgia. The remote location is inhabited by a monk named Maxim Qavtaradze, who is restoring the churches himself. He enters and leaves via a 131-foot ladder that takes 20 minutes to climb.
