If you're headed to a gig, leave your selfie stick at home - major UK venues are banning their use

I recently took a trip to the Griffith Observatory with a friend of mine to watch the sunset over the Los Angeles skyline (which is, in fact, every bit as beautiful as you'd think). What wasn't beautiful, though, were the amount of selfie sticks in use that day. I'm not entirely sure where my hate for the futuristic gadget stems from but any time I see someone using a selfie stick I want to take it and beat them over the head with it, and it looks like I'm not alone in my disdain for the useless...
