Scheinman Trio offers surprising sounds at KC Jazz Club

It certainly wasn't what one expects at the KC Jazz Club. "They asked me to present some sort of program emphasizing my country background," violinist Jenny Scheinman explained Friday night as she took the small Kennedy Center stage alone (i.e., minus her co-headliner, drummer Brian Blade). "I've been writing some fiddle tunes." With that, she took off on three solo songs in old-timey cadence and square-dance rhythm.
