We’ll be the first to say it, “National Employee Appreciation Day doesn't deserve equal status as Labor Day.” Six months ago the two of us sat down in a boardroom after spending a long weekend of barbequing with each of our families. One of us saw a parade over the weekend. The other saw a beach in Mexico. We shared our stories of festivities or relaxation. Yet, neither one of us mentioned the meaning of Labor Day…because, well, no one talks about the meaning anymore. Ever.
