Shamir is chatty, casual and ready to take his voice to new heights

When a singer is best known for his voice, the true test of a live show is whether he hits the notes that are so impressive, striking and powerful on record. On Tuesday night, Shamir passed that test at U Street Music Hall, using his piercing countertenor to lead a dance party.
