It's easy to have a chuckle at the expense of progressive rock. The genre is often self-serious, preoccupied with technique and earnest in its embrace of fantastic subject matter. Still, you have to admit that tales of wizards and black magic pair well with long, heavy guitar solos. It worked for Black Sabbath and King Crimson, and today, the formula still delivers for Wand.
