Professor Rod Davies CBE FRS FRAS

The Royal Astronomical Society offers its condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Professor Rod Davies, President of the Royal Astronomical Society from 1987 to 1989, who passed away earlier this month.   Prof Davies spent his working life as a radio astronomer, starting out at the Radiophysics Lab in Sydney in 1951, before taking up a post as an assistant lecturer at Jodrell Bank in 1953, where he spent the rest of his career, becoming director in 1988, a post he held until 1997. ...
