World War I Centennial Commission picks final design for memorial

The World War I Centennial Commission has chosen a memorial design that incorporates some of the elements of Pershing Park, the site along Pennsylvania Avenue where it will be built.The competition jury unanimously recommended "The Weight of Sacrifice," submitted by architect Joe Weishaar and sculptor Sabin Howard, and the commission voted to accept the recommendation at its meeting Tuesday morning. The design will be unveiled later this afternoon.
