How to Fix Peeling Marble Table? -- Good Questions

Pin it Q: We have a wonderful marble coffee table that my husband and his roommates bought off Craigslist his freshman year of college, and it's still going strong. The only problem is, it seems to have some kind of plastic or acrylic coating over the stone, and after a number of moves and some hard living (from college students and toddlers) it's starting to chip and peel [photo below].
