Few houses blend the inside and outside realms as well as this recently completed design by Benjamin Garcia Saxe in Puntarenas, Costa Rica. Designed along an analysis of local wind patterns to maximize cross-ventilation, the house makes use of locally sourced Melina wood throughout and can open or close itself to its surroundings by a series of shutters throughout the house's different levels.
