Help a Decorative Bar Area Find Its Purpose -- Good Questions

(Image credit: Apartment Therapy) Q: I'm hoping to get some ideas on how to decorate/use a non-usable kitchen bar area. It is a rental and they only left about a two inch over hang as the eating area. I don't care about having an eating area but not sure what to do with the space.
