(Massachusetts Institute of Technology) MIT neuroscientists have discovered brain cells called glial cells play a critical role in controlling appetite and feeding. In a study of mice, the researchers found these cells stimulate overeating, and when they are suppressed, appetite is suppressed. The findings could offer a new target for developing drugs against obesity and other appetite-related disorders.
