Researchers generally agree that garlic, used for thousands of years to treat human disease, can reduce the risk of developing certain kinds of cancers, cardiovascular disease, and type 2 diabetes. Nevertheless, researchers in the UK argue that explaining how garlic affects human health -- and getting consistent results during clinical trials -- is more complex, because of the vast array of compounds garlic produces.
