June 2018's GDP Growth May Have Been The High Point There were positives and negatives in the September quarter GDP growth rate of 3.5%, some of which were one-time events. Trade was a major drag (not a surprise) while inventory builds substantially added to growth. After these and government spending are excluded GDP growth was 2.7%.
