Social Security Checks Paid, But Government Shutdown Can Still Damage Program

The Social Security Administration will cease training, benefit verifications, earnings record corrections and updates, public relations, IT enhancement, quality assurance reviews, issuance of lost Medicare cards and other functions during the shutdown according to the agency's contingency plans.
