Filmmaker Ari Aster made one hell of a splash last year with his cerebral horror hit Hereditary. I analyzed it in some detail here for The 405 – although the ending did disappoint some, the rest of the story packed more than a sufficient psychological wallop to make up for it. Aster is returning – with Hereditary's cinematographer Pawel Pogorzelski and its distributor A24 – for what appears to be an altogether different type of horror in Midsommar, slated for released August 9.
