(American Heart Association) Hypertensive pregnancy disorders, especially preeclampsia -- may increase the risk of psychological development disorders and behavioral and emotional disorders in children. This is the first study to show that preeclampsia predicts increased offspring risk of any childhood mental disorder, regardless of mental disorders in the parents and other conditions.
