Hospital hygiene: A closer look reveals realistic frequency of infection

(Inselspital, Bern University Hospital ) A research team led by Inselspital, Bern University Hospital and the University of Bern found a correlation between the frequency of infections after surgery and performance in quality audits. Lower surgical site infection rates correlate with a lower audit score. In other words, looking more closely reveals more reported infections. Recommendations for possible correction are presented.
