Beckman neuroscientists uncover neuronal circuitry controlling auditory sensory perception

(Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology) A new study led by Dan Llano and Baher Ibrahim at the Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign discovered a new neuronal circuit that may help control which sensory information is relayed to the auditory cortex. Their paper, 'Corticothalamic gating of population auditory thalamocortical transmission in mouse,' was published in eLife in May 2021.
