Chicago Flats Initiative is hoping to keep iconic 2- and 4-flats flourishing in the city: 'Why not? They're beautiful buildings and good structures.'

Community organizations from the South, West, and Northwest sides launched the Chicago Flats Initiative program, which focuses on the preservation of two- to four-flat buildings, which make up 26% of Chicago's housing stock -- a major source of affordability in Chicago neighborhoods.
