Oral Bacteria May Drive Multiple Sclerosis Scientists have found that people with multiple sclerosis (MS) have a distinctly imbalanced oral microbiome-marked by a loss of beneficial bacteria and a rise in inflammation-linked microbes. Using advanced genetic and metabolic profiling, researchers revealed that saliva from MS patients also had lower levels of hypotaurine, a molecule that supports antioxidant defense and nerve health.
