Government officials in Thailand said they will lift the state of emergency in the capital city of Bangkok nearly two months after the state imposed the order to stamp out anti-government protests that have rocked the Southeast Asian country for the past five months. The demonstrators have been agitating to remove Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra from power, citing that she is merely a puppet of her brother, the exiled former premier Thaksin Shinawatra.
