Ted Cruz Accuses Iran Of Tapping Hostage-Taker For Ambassador

WASHINGTON (AP) -- A Republican senator says Iran has named a former hostage-taker involved in the 1979 seizure of the U.S. Embassy in Tehran as ambassador to the United Nations. Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas said Tuesday that he was offering legislation to prevent the United States from granting a visa to Hamid Aboutalebi, who was a member of a Muslim student group that held 52 Americans hostage for 444 days.
