Police in Brazil's Rio de Janeiro fired tear gas and pepper spray to disperse demonstrators who had been protesting on Sunday (July 13) against the lavish spending for the World Cup. The protest near the Maracana stadium, where Germany will meet Argentina for the World Cup final later on Sunday, started out peacefully. But when the protest grew in size, and demonstrators started marching up and down the street near Praca Saens Pena, police used tear gas and pepper spray to disperse them.
