China's red-hot Xiaomi, the world’s No. 3 smartphone vendor in the third quarter, said today it sold 61.12 million smartphones in 2014, more than tripling its 18.7 million units sold in 2013. Tax-inclusive sales were 74.3 billion yuan, or $12 billion, an increase of about 135% from 31.2 billion yuan a year earlier, billionaire chairman Lei Jun said in a Weibo announcement. Earnings for the privately held company weren't disclosed.
