The announcement by China e-commerce giant JD.com on Friday that it purchased a 10% stake in a traditional retailer based in Fujian Province for $700 million is part growing wave of combinations among online and offline retailers spurred by the explosive growth in e-commerce and easing GDP gains in the world’s No. 2 economy.
