For Sellers Of Vintage Guitars, There's An Eternal Struggle Between Passion And Profit Over the course of a 40-year career, Stan Jay sold a lot of vintage guitars to a lot of folks. You’ve probably heard of some of them: Bruce Springsteen, George Harrison, Bob Dylan. But in the year since Jay died, business at his destination outpost on Staten Island, Mandolin Brothers, has slowed due to a lack of interest in acoustic instruments, a dearth of advertising money, and a server malfunction that wiped emails and point of sales software.
