Bid to ease Northern Ireland abortion laws voted down

Proposal to legalise termination in cases of sex crime or where foetus cannot survive outside womb is rejected by 59 votes to 40 Proposals to relax Northern Ireland's strict abortion laws have been rejected. Stormont assembly members voted 59 to 40 against amending legislation to allow terminations in cases of fatal foetal abnormality and sexual crime.
