Economic Report: U.S. durable-goods orders surge 3.4% in biggest gain in six months

U.S. manufacturers received the biggest increase in orders in January in six months, pointing to an economy that is gaining steam again after a letdown at the end of last year. Orders for durable goods--- products meant to last at least three years--- rose 3.4%.
