Miguel Cisneros Diaz, 19, drowned in Lake Michigan near Tobey Prinz Beach Park on Aug. 22, 2021, after jumping off the pier before lifeguards were on duty. There was no life ring on the pier. After Diaz' death, Rogers Park residents said they placed at least four life rings on the pier where Cisneros Diaz died. Each time, the Chicago Park District has removed the life ring.
