Economic Report: U.S. retail sales jump 1.7%, but high inflation plays role

Sales at U.S. retailers such as Wal-Mart and Amazon rose in October at the fastest pace in seven months in another strong show for the economy, but high inflation also exaggerated the amount of spending. Retail sales surged 1.7% last month.
