The sweeping gun proposal mapped out by a bipartisan group of 20 senators on Sunday could save lives such as the children and teachers of Uvalde, among many others, by potentially keeping guns - especially assault rifles - out of the hands of those most likely to unleash murderous rage on unsuspecting innocents.
